Obituary of Roy N Venitelli

Roy Venitelli, age 87 of Readington Twp., NJ, died at his home on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Born in North Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Vincent and Lucia Venitelli. Roy had lived in Linden for seven years before moving to Readington Twp. 52 years ago. He served in the US Army during WW II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge as an infantry cannoneer in Central Europe. He was awarded the Army of Occupation, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medals. He was a carpenter and master craftsmen for R & R Venitelli Carpenters Inc., building beautiful homes, cabinetry, and furniture before his retirement. Roy was a member of the Readington Senior Citizens, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Stanton Gun Club. He loved gardening, canning, and hunting, as well as dancing, reading, puzzles. He was known for butchering his own venison, which he shared readily with family, friends and neighbors. Roy was an extremely kind and generous man, with a playful smile and joyful laugh. He will be remembered as a very loving and giving husband, father, and friend. Roy was predeceased by his brothers, Mickey, Tristi and Adelco Venitelli and his sister, Ester Venitelli. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Rose; his son, Vincent Venitelli and his wife, Sandra of Sandy Hook, CT, his daughter, Jenza Hesington-Venitelli of Upper Black Eddy, PA, his son, Roy Jr. and his wife, Kay of Turin, NY, and his daughter, Susan Venitelli and her husband Antonino Scarpati of Wycombe, PA. He is also survived by his brother, Don Venitelli and his wife, Ann of South Plainfield and his seven grandchildren, Vincent August Venitelli and his wife, Meghan, Jeremy Hesington, Zeah, Sonya and Andy Venitelli and Yolanda and Anna Scarpati. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home Ltd, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse NJ 08888 A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.
