Obituary of Charles Bartley
Charles Bartley, age 86 of Bedminster, NJ, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ he was the last surviving child of the late John and Jennie Bartley.
Charles was an army veteran during non-war time from 1946-1947 and was stationed in Fort Hood in Washington and Scofield Barracks in Hawaii.
He worked for General Electric in Newark for over 35 years and then worked for EDC in Bedminster, NJ. He had worked part time for Western Electric in Newark for a short while.
Charles was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church in Far Hills. He loved the shore, fishing and boating. He had memorable fishing trips with his sons, grandson and great-grandchildren. Charles hobby was his personal carpentry work. He still resided in the home that he built for his family in 1957. He also built two other houses for the family at the shore.
Charles was a dedicated husband and his family always came first. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He will be greatly missed by all his family including Giovanna, his personal caretaker.
He was predeceased in 2013 by his wife of 59 years, Katherine.
He is survived by his loving children, Beverly Ricci and her husband, Robert of Manville, John Bartley and his wife Heidi of Bridgewater, Charlene Bartley-Burns of Manville, Christopher Bartley and his wife, Aurora of Whitehouse Station, his five grandchildren, Sean and his wife, Cindy Bartley of Ringoes, Jessica Bartley of Manville, Janelle Bartley of Manville, Gage Bartley of Whitehouse Station and Melissa and Ryan McCauley of Tewksbury; and his five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving nieces, Patricia Cymbaluk of Rahway Kathleen Sypko of Linden and his nephew (godson), Michael Murphy of Vernon.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888
Service and entombment will be private.
