Obituary of Frank Brown
Frank Richard Brown Jr., age 86 of Annandale, NJ died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington.
Born in East Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Viola Brown. He had lived in Piscataway before moving to Annandale many years ago. He attended Our Lady Help of Christians Schools and Rutgers University where he was employed as a manager for many years.
Frank was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Coral Sea. He was a past Commander of the Irvington Amvets Post No. 12 and a member of the Irvington Amvets Rescue Squad. He served as a delegate to the New Jersey State Amvets. He was a member of the American Legion Post #284, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1856 and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 6245 in Clinton. He served as a 4th Degree Knight in the Color Guard.
Frank was a member of Fifty Plus at Immaculate Conception Church, the NJ Seniors Healthy Bones, the Hunterdon County Y.M.C.A and the S.A.I.L. Program of Somerset Medical Center. In addition he served his community by belonging to the Local Chapter of AARP, the Clinton Township and Union Township Seniors, Friends of the Hunterdon County Library, and Partners in Healing at the Hunterdon Medical Center. He also served as a volunteer on the NY-NJ Blood Donor Drives and the Friends of the Hunterdon County Library Book sale.
He was predeceased by his brother, William and his sister, Jean.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen and his brother Richard of Manchester, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 7 at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale.
Entombment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
