Obituary of Marie Colacurto
Marie Diane Colacurto, age 83, of Whitehouse Station, died at her home on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Emalyn DesMarais.
Marie had lived in Irvington before moving to Whitehouse Station 18 years ago.
She was a teacher who worked for the Irvington Board of Education before her retirement. She taught the Intellectually Gifted and Talented and was a driving force in obtaining scholarships for her students to many prestigious private preparatory schools.
Marie loved to read, especially about history and gardening. She was also an avid computer enthusiast since the early days of home computing.
She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, former Director of the Irvington Police Department, in 1995.
She is survived by her three loving daughters, Robin Schrotter and her husband, Craig of Bridgewater, Lisa Bujdos and her husband, Peter of Springfield, and Sara Pomykacz of Flemington; her devoted son, Matthew Colacurto of New York City; and her cherished grandchildren, Katharine Kachmar and her husband Andrew Bucko of Oldbridge, and Scott Kachmar, Tyler Elizabeth and Callum Bujdos, and Owen and Mary Rose Pomykacz.
Friends and relatives may visit on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
A Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale, NJ.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
