Muriel was one of the first welcoming persons I met at WUMC in 1968. So many memories of our conversations & shared times. She always made me feel accepted.

I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with Muriel and Lefty for a year and a half. What began as a care-giving assignment turned into an extended family. Muriel and I liked to laugh, a lot! She became like a second mom, a best buddy, and so much more. I have so many precious memories which are as clear to me as if they happened yesterday. But even more precious is the relationship I developed with her, Lefty, and her awesome family.
Her boys meant everything to her. She was so very proud of each one of them and talked about them every day.
I remember her telling me that although she had wanted a girl as well as her boys, that she had been blessed with three women she thought of as her own daughters; Lorrie, Maria and Susan. And as for her grandchildren, they were as precious as gold. She'd beam and boast of the great things they would do with their lives one day, and how they were growing up into such wonderful young people.
Muriel used to tell me quite often that she was lucky to have had such a wonderful life. I heard many stories about her father, mother and sister, times growing up, how she and Lefty met, her travels (oh my! I told her she should have been a professional map reader), stories about the boys growing up...how Lefty had to go looking for Bob one night when he was late coming home (you know the story Bob Lol!), oh my goodness, so many things. She had a lot of fun through the years and she was grateful for all of it, especially for her loving husband and devoted family.
Miss Muriel, you will be deeply missed by all of us but I dare say you will hold our spot up there in heaven until we see you again.

My fondest memories of Muriel has been the past six years being her hairdresser. She was one of my favorites. Through the years of doing Muriel's hair, she became like a family member to me. I looked forward to seeing her as much as she looked forward to having her hair done. She used to say to me all the time that she couldn't wait to come in for her weekly Laughs, not just for her hair. She will always have a Special place in my heart, and I will miss her dearly. My deepest sympathy to Lefty and the entire Dilts Family. May God be with you all at this difficult time
