Obituary of Christopher S O'Sullivan
Christopher O'Sullivan, age 89, of Readington Township, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Somerset Medical Center.
Born on the family farm in Mourne Abby, Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, he was the son of the late Michael Patrick and Elizabeth O'Sullivan (nee O'Farrell).
Christopher emigrated to the United States in September 1949, married Dorothy Regina Gunn in October 1951 and raised seven children in Rutherford, NJ before moving to Readington Township in 1978.
He was an electrician working through the IBEW, Local 52 and 164, for 35 years. Christopher spent 22 years of his career as a maintenance electrician for Anheuser Busch in Newark, NJ.
Christopher, a long-standing parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station, was a member of the choir and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Patrick's Division of Somerset County. Christopher loved gardening, the outdoors and remained exceptionally active throughout his life. He earnestly followed politics and was an avid Mets fan. His greatest enjoyment came from time spent with his cherished family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, his son Kevin and his grandson Conor O'Sullivan.
Christopher is survived by his three sons, Christopher S. Jr., of Metairie, LA, Michael H. of Catonsville, MD and William J. of Readington Township, NJ and his three daughters, Dorothy O. Moody of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Margaret E. of Readington Twp. and M. Susanne Anderson of Ellicott City, MD. Christopher was the 4th of 13 children. He is survived by 8 siblings and many family members in Ireland. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, August 3 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.
Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Annandale, NJ.
