Obituary of Wayne E Stephenson

Wayne E Stephenson, age 78 of Bridgewater, died after a long illness on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Mabelle Stephenson. Wayne had resided in Bridgewater since 1972. He was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957. During that time he traveled to the Philippines, Okinawa and North Africa. Wayne was the owner & operator of Somerset Auto Parts in North Plainfield for 20 years. Wayne was a loving husband and father, devoted to his family. He enjoyed working on and fixing machinery. He was a charismatic people person who had a zest for life. He was predeceased by his son, Mark in 2000 and his sister, Margaret McCullough in 2013. Wayne is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Carol; his son, Glenn and his wife, Karolyn of Whitehouse Station and his two brothers, John of Bridgewater and Robert of Annandale. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Katelyn, Kylie and Brooke Stephenson. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888 A reception with a celebration of his life will continue following the visitation, at the Ryland Inn in Whitehouse from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.
