Obituary of John Brennan
John Brennan, age 88 of Basking Ridge, NJ, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at his home.
Born in Greenock, Scotland, he was the son of the late Neil and Margaret Brennan. After graduating from Glasgow University, John immigrated to the United States.
He had lived in Belleville before moving to Basking Ridge in 1963.
He was a Metallurgist and had worked for Crucible Steele in Harrison.
John was a communicant and very active member of the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, NJ. He was also active for many years in the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered his time at Eva's Kitchen, a homeless shelter in Paterson and Newark. John tremendously enjoyed watching the game of soccer.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion in 2005 and his two brothers, George and Hugh Brennan.
He is survived by his eight loving children, Margaret Lundrigan of Boonton, Mary Brennan of Morristown, Elizabeth Brennan of Greensboro, NC, Paul of Highland Park, Christopher of Dunellen, Andrew of Boston, MA, Neil of Boonton, and Helen Brennan of Califon. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Brennan McClusky of Inverkip, Scotland, one grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 at the church.
