Obituary of Walter Bernard Hoffman
Walter Bernard Hoffman, "Bernie", age 68, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Raritan, NJ.
Born in Somerville, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter Hoffman and Anna Hoffman of Whitehouse Station. Bernie lived in Readington Township all of his life.
Before his retirement he was a forklift operator for Olivetti in Somerville, NJ.
Bernie was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp serving in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal.
He was a lifetime member of the East Whitehouse Fire Department, a member of the Flemington Elks, the American Legion and the VFW. Bernie was an avid Giants and Mets fan and loved to watch Nascar racing. He loved taking vacations with his family to Cape May.
Besides his mother, Anna, Bernie is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Bernice, loving daughters, Amy Jo Larry and her husband, Patrick of Decatur, IL, Lynn Ann Hoffman of Whitehouse Station and his precious grandchildren, Colleen and Andrew Larry and Bernie Hoffman. He is also survived by his sister, Suzanne Petrovich.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
Entombment will be in St. Magdalen's Cemetery, Flemington.
