Obituary of John Peter Campbell

John “Jack” Campbell, age 83 of Milford, NJ, died at his home on Saturday, June 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel and Susan Campbell. Jack had lived in High Bridge before moving to Milford 15 years ago. He was a veteran and Sergeant First Rank in the United States Army and had served during the Korean War. He worked as a Project Manager for New York Life Insurance Company in Manhattan for many years before his retirement in 1985 from the Lebanon facility. Jack was a respected leader and friend to his colleagues. Leading with kindness was one of his great strengths. Jack was a member of the American Legion in Frenchtown. For many years he coached football for youth recreational teams. Quite an avid athlete, he played on recreational and company sporting teams himself and loved following the sporting careers of his grandchildren. He adored his family and was a friend to all he met. He believed in the power of gentleness to make a difference in the world. Jack was always positive and looked at difficult situations through the eyes of his faith. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Campbell who died in 1997. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; his three dearly loved daughters whom he always called princess, Millie Wingler and her husband, John of Union Twp., Diane Campbell and her husband, Rick Beavers of Kingwood Twp., and Carol Campbell of Bethlehem, PA; his stepson, Donald Sliker and his wife Cindee of Phillipsburg; his two stepdaughters, Sue Ann Alleger and her husband, Joel and Kristine Menard and her husband, Leo of Holland Twp. Jack was also the devoted grandfather of six grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler, Joseph, Ryan, Hannah and Sarah and nine step grandchildren, Hannah, Starr, Justin, Colin, Kyle, Donald, Sarah, Linze and Ericka. He was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Michael and Jack. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 24 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
