Obituary of John W. Green
John W. Green, age 79 of Pittstown, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ of complications from heart surgery.
Born in Holbrook, Arizona, he was the son of the late Robert and Fay Green. John lived in Basking Ridge before moving to Pittstown in 1985. He served during the Korean War in the United States Navy.
John was a statistician for AT&T for more than 20 years and retired from the Basking Ridge office in 1988. After his retirement he pursued many hobbies and alternate careers including farming, sausage making, and soaring. His most recent passion was working with the New Jersey Kiwanis Foundation to eradicate iodine-deficiency disorder in remote areas of Siberia, leading to him authoring a book about his experiences.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Russell) Green and his four daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Rich Lawton, Arlene and Eric Green-Kahrs, Michelle and BrianTrusty and Linda Verde. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Stolz, his seven grandchildren, Nese Orlosky, Yasemin Gencer, Fatih Gencer, Christine Lawton, Kimberly Lawton, Ceilidh Kahrs, and Tiana Trusty and his great granddaughter, Elena Orlosky.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 27 at 3pm at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Friends and relatives may visit with the family from 2pm until the time of the service.
