I knew Dr. Michael Kronig when he was at LIJ, ( Glen Oaks,NY). I am devastated to had just learned of his death. It has been many years since I seen him. Yet, I often thought about him and highly respected him. He was an amazing doctor; and individual.\He was brilliant, dedicated, witty, and kind. He was the best mentor that one would want. . I believe, he had to return back to his original "post".... "Michael the Arch Angel"... God's highest ranking angel. He lived to the full "meaning" of his name, "Michael"; "likeness of God". And, my belief is the only thing that lessen some of the sadness I feel. It was a honor to have known him. My since condolences to family and all who knew and loved him.. Michael's death is a tremendous lost to his much needed profession. And, it even a greater lost to the world.

MIckey was responsible for getting my husband to finally ask me out in 1969. MIckey took me to the Academy of Music to see a jazz concert. He was way ahead of his time in his interests. My husband got very jealous that I was going out with THE Mickey Kronig, which pushed him over the edge.
WHat a wonderful person he was! I know you will take comfort in all the wonderful memories you shared with him.

Dear David and Kathy,
Two years ago when i found out Michael was Iill, I contacted him on Facebook and have been emailing with him since. We shared books and family happenings. He even spoke with my husband about some possible alternative cancer treatments. He spoke so fondly of you and was definitely a proud papa. The love he had for both of you was palpable.
The last I heard from him was Thanksgiving weekend. He told me about his blog and after reading it, I realized he was getting ready. I send .you both much love and strength. While I will miss Michael's wit and kindness, I can only imagine how difficult this time will be for you. When you are ready, please email me
to let me know how you are doing.
Sincerely,
Abby Augenblick Gatenby

I was very saddened to hear of Michael's passing. I found out while helping to arrange our 40th high school reunion two years ago that Mickey was ill and wouldn't be attending. He was the classmate who's name came up the most as the one that everyone hoped would be there. I was classmates and friends with Michael from J.Hampton Moore elementary through Northeast High School in Philadelphia. He was always the smartest in the class and the friend my parents most wanted me to be like. Reading about his accomplishments makes me remember why. To Kathy, David, Donald and Gail I offer my sincere condolences.

Mickey was simply smarter and cooler than the rest of us in high school. He thought big thoughts. He debated other students on public tv. He skied and climbed mountains. He was part of a very early coed class at Vassar.
Mickey introduced me to local museums, live chamber music and folk music. We cut school together on Earth Day to attend a rally. He made decisions based on his politics long before many of us realized that all of us had the option to do that too. For example, much to my personal dismay, he decided not to attend our senior prom.
I will miss wondering if I might see him randomly somewhere. My condolences to his family, Cheryl Kritz

Michael was a colleague, but beyond that, he was a mentor to me- witty, unapologetic, charming, and genuine. That's the Michael I'll remember. I grieve his loss but I celebrate his life and the impression he left on me.

Dear Kathy,
I was very saddened to hear of Mickey's passing. We went to NE High School together and shared many of the same classes. I recall he graduated in the top 1% of his class. As you may recall, we were also classmates at HMC, Class of '78. It was clear even back then that he would achieve great things. He was a brilliant, personable and outgoing young man and greatly respected by all his classmates and teachers. My sincere condolences go to you and Mickey's family and may the pain of his loss be eased by the memories of all the wonderful years you both shared together. G-d Bless, Bob

Michael ("Mickey")was an integral part of Northeast High School, Philadelphia, Class of 1970, and, I believe, its class president, in addition to being a gifted athlete, and an extremely intelligent and nice person. I am very sad to hear of this news, and I send my consoling thoughts to his family.

We haven't seen each other for a while, but I'll always cherish the musical times we shared through high school, unmatched by our performance on the Jerry Blavat Show on WFIL. I remember that Mickey was also helpful during those AP math classes. Some day we'll jam with reverb at the Antiques' reunion in the sky.

Dear Kathy and David,
I will miss Michael, a dear friend and colleague. I will miss his intellect, his kindness, his always positive attitude, and his wonderful sense of humor. He is the rare person who not only talks about politics and social change, but who actually took the time to participate in the process and do something.
He will be greatly missed.
