Obituary of Alice M Hayes
Alice M. Hayes passed away peacefully in her home in Whitehouse Station on December 26, 2012. She was born in Passaic, NJ on October 4, 1923, the daughter of the late Valentine and Marie Auerbach.
Her greatest pride besides her family was her service to her country during WW II as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy. During her service she was stationed at the Newport, R.I. Naval Station. Following her service, she stayed active in the National WAVES Organization throughout her life. She was also a member of the American Legion and an active member of the Anna Crump Circle at the Cokesbury Methodist Church for many years.
She lived most of her adult life in the Lebanon area where she raised her 5 surviving daughters: Kathleen Mason, Gretchen Caruso, Gail DiMaggio, Fern Hayes, and Valerie Everett. In addition she was the grandmother of nine and great grandmother of nine.
She was predeceased by her brother, Frank Auerbach, and her sister, Dorothy Auerbach, and by her granddaughter, Tara.
A service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00. Burial will be in the George Washington Memorial Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
