Obituary of Richard L Higley

Richard L. Higley, age 60, of Whitehouse Station, NJ was called home to the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born in Somerville, NJ on December 16, 1952, he was the son of the late Richard and Ilse Higley of Whitehouse Station. Richard studied engineering at the University of Maryland and was an accomplished welder, mason, and plumber. He enjoyed Formula 1 auto racing and was a very good auto mechanic and loved to rebuild engines. Richard spoke French, German, and Italian. He enjoyed science and the natural world immensely and always treated people with kindness and fairness. Upon his father's death in 1985, Richard's mission encompassed care-taking of his mother, Ilse. He continued to this day making her life as comfortable as possible. He will be dearly missed. We love you Richard. Richard is survived by his mother, Ilse; his brother, John and his wife, Kelly of Phillipsburg; his sister, Barbara Hall of Mesa, Arizona; his nephew, Eric and four nieces, Chrissy, Julie, Leslie and Cindy and many German relatives. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 21, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse, NJ. A prayer service will be held at 6:15. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Hunterdon Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822
