Obituary of Constance Dassing

Constance "Connie"(Manjak) Dassing Connie Dassing entered into eternal rest on February 7, 2012 at the age of 91. She was born on October 17, 1921 in Ambridge PA, to the late Michael and Mary Manjak (nee) Dziedziak. Her brothers, Michael, Joseph and Thomas and sisters, Mary, Stella and Anne preceded her in death. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund C. Dassing and devoted mother to the late Carolyn S. Zappulla (nee Dassing), her only child. After graduating Ambridge High School in 1939, Connie worked for a local candy company Betsy Ann Chocolates. During WWII she worked in the American Bridge Company as a draft person. After marriage, she moved to Hillside, NJ where she took up her favorite role of wife, mother and homemaker. She was active with in supporting the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. When the family moved to Lebanon, NJ in 1963 she became a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Clinton, and was a parishioner there until her passing. Connie enjoyed flowers, reading, radio programs, sewing, and baking. She loved making pies for Thanksgiving. She was a very hands on grandma & great grandma. She enjoyed sharing and teaching arts and crafts. One of her favorite activities was baking Christmas cookies with all of them. Connie will be missed by her three grandchildren, Marianne O'Sullivan of Lebanon, NJ, Robert J. Zappulla of Alpha, NJ, Laura Zappulla-Roemer of Lopatcong, NJ; 4 great-grandchildren, Zachariah, Katherine, Lillian, and Joseph: as well as son-in-law, Robert Zappulla and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are on Monday February 11th, from 7-9pm at Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse. A mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale at 10am on Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
