Obituary of Oscar S Pohorely

Oscar S. Pohorely, age 84 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died at his home on Thursday, August 13, 2015. Born in Plainfield, NJ, he was the son of the late Emil and Marguerite Pohorely. Coming from Piscataway Twp., Oscar had lived in Whitehouse Station for the past 45 years. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and served for four years, including duty in Korea and Japan. He then served an additional four years in the reserves. He was a sergeant in the traffic division of the Piscataway Police Department until his retirement in 1988. Oscar enjoyed varied activities in his younger years, including: bowling, fishing and playing baseball. He was an avid Yankees fan and loved to cheer them on while watching their games. Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rose Marie; his daughter, Lorraine Pohorely and her partner, Victoria Chung-Alvarado of Three Bridges; his brother, Emil Pohorely Jr. of Whitehouse Station; and his sister, Jean Cesare of Piscataway. A service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Mausoleum at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ 08801. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888 In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Readington Twp.
