Obituary of Doris M Swartout

Doris M. Swartout “Granny D”, age 83 of Pittstown, NJ, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. Born in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Martha Canale. She had lived in Brooklyn, Virginia Beach, Long Island and Flemington, NJ before moving to her final home at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ, which she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Laura and her son in-law, Brian of Sandy Spring, MD; her brother, James of Smithtown, NY; and her two grandchildren, Jack and Catherine Gilligan. She will be remembered forever for her spunky spirit, joyful laughter and caring nature. A funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, November 7 at 9:00am. Doris requested years’ prior that everyone is to wear bright, cheerful colors to her funeral. Please no black or dark colors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Country Arch Care Center, 114 Pittstown Road, Pittstown NJ 08867. Donations should be made out to: Country Arch Care Center PNA.
