Obituary of Robert William Bishop
Robert William Bishop “Bill”, age 83 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.
Born in Whitehouse Station, NJ, he was the son of the late Floyd and Mildred Bishop.
Bill resided in Whitehouse Station all his life.
In 1954 Bill and his brother, Floyd opened Bishop’s Market in Whitehouse Station and in 1973 they expanded and opened Bishop and Bishop Wine and Spirits Liquor Store. In 1989 they expanded again and Bishops Market became Bishops Thriftway. Bill loved his time spent at the store. He never missed a day except for when he was vacationing in FL. He enjoyed going out to dinner and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Floyd and Charles and his sister, Carol Buck.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane; his son, Bruce and his wife Corrine of Phillipsburg; his daughter, Robin Campbell and her companion, Barry Brown of Whitehouse Station; his son, Bob and his wife, Karen of Asbury and his daughter, Sue White and her husband, Brian of Hampton. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Whitehouse United Methodist Church Cemetery in Whitehouse.
