Obituary of Christopher B Heeney

Christopher B Heeney, age 59 of Bridgewater, NJ, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Christopher and Mary Heeney. Chris grew up in Newark and settled in Bridgewater with his family 14 years ago. He worked as a purchasing agent for several major electrical contractor firms before becoming part owner at Reynolds Electric in East Hanover, NJ. Chris was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family above all else but coming in a close second was his love of running. He ran in the New York City Marathon 13 times, twice in Boston and in marathons and races all around the country and beyond, as far reaching as San Francisco and London. Chris also enjoyed vacations, especially time at the NJ shore and other beach destinations. He was a dedicated sports fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Yankees, Knicks and Giants. He shared his enjoyment of sports with his boys by helping as assistant coach for their basketball and baseball teams. Chris will be greatly missed by all of his many loving relatives and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laurie and his two cherished boys, Conor and Brendan both at home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for the Heeney boys and may be made payable to Laurie Heeney, C/O PNC Bank, 1921 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, NJ 08836 or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org
