I was in complete shock to hear about Mat. I knew him from work and never ever knew him to be in a bad mood, either or in my office or on the phone. He always left us smiling. He will be so very much missed.

To the Family of Matthew McGinley,
I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Matt's family, son and fiancé. As a member of the Fatal Accident Investigation Unit with the NJSP, I had the opportunity to work several cases with Matt. I remember when Matt first started at the Prosecutor's Office and he would call me for some direction. He was a quick learner and was always willing to come out to the crashes as a member of the Prosecutors Office's Fatal Accident Investigator and assist in any way possible. I got to know Matt so well, that we would always end up discussing our personal lives and family. A lot of laughing and joking would go on as well! Matt, you were a great guy and will be missed. Rest in Peace!!

My sincere condolences to Matt's family and friends. We worked together at Flemington Car and Truck Country in the 90's, and Matt was always wonderful to be around...always helpful to his customers and fellow employees. He early on shared with me his desire to become a police officer, and I was pleased that he followed his dream. He will be missed; yet another angel to watch over his family and friends. Rest in peace, Matt.

To the family of Matthew J. McGinley:
First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. I would like to share with you some of the outstanding things Matt accomplished in his short time here. Matt has touched the heart of so many people he came in contact with. In our profession of being a Police Officer, we often wear so many different hats. As a fellow EMT, he was able to communicate so well with the people who needed medical help. He would spend the extra time to reassure them they were going to be taken care of. Even though they were suffering, he would bring a smile to their faces, and for that moment in time make them forget their pain. As a Police Officer, he was very professional and yet still wore his heart on his sleeve. So many times we had to call him to tell him his shift was over. I often think he would stayed out there all day and night, just to serve the public. This was a sign of a great Police Officer, to which he was. I am so very fortunate to not only have him as a very close friend, but to have him work for me as well. He was truly an outstanding person and will be missed greatly by so many. As for me and my family, we will always cherish the memories he has given us and he will never be forgotten.
Sincerely,
David W. Van Gilson
