Obituary of Matthew J. McGinley

Matthew J. McGinley, age 49 of Milford, NJ, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Matt was born in Hackensack, NJ and grew up in Union Twp., NJ. He was the son of the late Conrad McGinley and Ruth McGinley of Simpsonville, SC. Matt had lived in Clinton Twp. before moving to Milford 10 years ago. He was a detective with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office for the last eight years. Prior to that he was a patrolman with the Holland Township Police Department from 2003 to 2009 and a Class II Special with the Clinton Township Police Department. Matt was also a life member of the Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad. Matt was a 1984 graduate of North Hunterdon High School and had worked at Flemington Car and Truck Family of Dealerships before becoming an officer. He loved to work on cars and tooling around his yard on his tractor. He was also a train enthusiast and loved model trains and was sharing that passion with his son. He also loved his great companion, his dog Murphy. Besides his mother, Ruth, Matt is survived by his son, Ian Conrad McGinley of Bethlehem, PA, his fiancée, Lauren Kordell and his two brothers, Thomas and his wife, Meryl, their three daughters of Simpsonville, SC and Mark and his wife, Geri of Bentonville, VA. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Three Bridges.
