Obituary of Thomas J Vida

Thomas J. Vida, age 96 of Whitehouse Station, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Sophie Vida. He had lived in Lakewood and owned a home in Port St. Lucy, FL before moving to Whitehouse Station 3 years ago. He was proud to have been a veteran and had served his country in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion T. Nulty Post 471 in Iselin. He loved to play cards and enjoyed bowling in his retirement years and had been on many leagues during that time. He immensely enjoyed traveling to Florida, and did so every winter for over 30 years. Tom was an all around good guy who loved to pitch in and help when and wherever he could. He lived a long and rewarding life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie and his daughter, Marianne. He is survived by his son, John and his wife Patricia of Whitehouse Station; his three grandchildren, Chelsea McNulty, Ashley Vida, and Katie Kennedy and his two great grandchildren, Logan and Colton. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. A service with military honors will be held immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
