Obituary of Dorothy E Shrive
Dorothy E. Shrive, age 93 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington.
Born in East Bangor, PA, she was the daughter of the late Heper and Charlotte Tucker.
Dottie resided in Whitehouse Station for the past 51 years. As a young woman she worked as a secretary before marrying her beloved late husband, Norman Shrive who passed away in 1986. Later in life she worked as a teacher’s aide at the Whitehouse United Methodist Church pre-school from which she retired at the age of 82.
Dottie was a member of the Hunterdon County Sweet Adelines and enjoyed traveling around performing and competing. She belonged to the Eastern Star, Hunterdon Chapter and was a member of, and faithful volunteer at, the Whitehouse United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and an insatiable world traveler. She was blessed to have visited such places as New Zealand, Australia, China, Egypt, England and Ireland to name a few. Dottie was a sweet, kind and generous woman who enjoyed her life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
Along with her parents and husband, Dottie was predeceased by her 5 sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her brother, Harold Tucker and his wife, Helen of Bangor, PA; her dear friends, Kay Benson and Loraine & Bucky Hayes as well as several devoted and loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Whitehouse United Methodist Church, 73 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.
