Obituary of Basil Andrews

Basil Andrews, age 88 of Whitehouse Station, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Basil was a long time resident, working and living in Readington Township for over 60 years. Most people would recognize Basil from his time he served as Readington Township building inspector from 1995 to 2011. After 16 years, he retired at the age of 83. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the son of the late William and Julia Andrews. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Julia in 1986; along with his remaining siblings, Mary King, Vera Neishel, John Andrews, Joe Andrews, Julia Gobora and Anistasia Andrews. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine whom he married in 1991; his daughter, Dr. Debra Andrews and her husband, David Laughton; his two sons, William and his wife, Laurie and Thomas and his wife, Peggy; his step-children, Dennis Reinknecht and his wife, Colleen, Catherine Beaumont and her husband, Paul, James Reinknecht and his wife, Joy. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Donell, Stephen, Sara, Thomas, Kyle, Cody, Kevin, Lindsay, Paul, Kevin, Eileen, Casey and Emily as well as the latest addition, a great grandchild, Sawyer. After graduating Coughlin HS in 1946, he joined the Marines and was honorably discharged in 1947 due to a reduction in the armed forces. Basil was drafted into the Army in 1950 and went on to serve in the Korean War where he reached the level of Sergeant First Class as head of the Motor Pool. Basil was a partner in Jan Construction Co, which was started in 1962 and was proud of the many construction projects and new homes they built in Readington Twp. and various other places. A service will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 11:00 AM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 6 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or donations the family requests that friends and family unable to attend any of the services go out have a nice meal to celebrate Basil's life and to send a picture of everyone to the family.
