Obituary of Lillian Melick Herder

Lillian Melick Herder, age 90, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Little Brook Nursing Home in Lebanon Twp., NJ. She was the daughter of the late John V. and the late Leah Melick. Lillian was born in Oldwick and lived there until 1944. She was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick and a graduate of Flemington High School, class of 1943. She was also a Dental Assistant in Whitehouse for 14 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Readington Twp. Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed traveling and loved all her family and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elinor Melick Poulson and Dorothy E. Miller. Lillian is survived by her husband of 72 years, Frederick Longstreet Herder, her sons, Frederick Jr. and his wife, Linda of Whitehouse Station and Robert of Califon, her daughter, Karen DuMont and her husband, Gerry of Lebanon and her sister, Mary Ellen Hochenberger. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Brandi, Vicki, Melissa, Thomas, Leah, Eric, and Laura and her 5 great grandchildren, Shelby, Dillon, Kaitlyn, Brianna, and Madisyn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:30 PM Burial will be in Rural Hill Cemetery, Whitehouse.
