Obituary of Gerald Edward Bachman

Gerald Edward Bachman, age 85 of Tewksbury, Twp. NJ, died peacefully at home on Monday, August 26, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with blood cancer. Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Edward J and Ruth Bachman. Gerald lived in South Branch for 15 years before sharing his residency between Stuart, FL and Tewksbury for the past 20 years. He served in the Navy as a US Navy Flight Training - Mid Shipmen. He attended Catholic University and was a graduate of Notre Dame with a degree in Commerce/Business Administration and received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Business School. Gerald belonged to St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church in Califon. He was a member of the Copperhill, Raritan Valley and the Mariner Sands Country Clubs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathleen (Dodwell) Bachman; his son, David Johnson Bachman of Masbeth, NY; his daughters, Lisbeth Bachman Dull and her husband, Eric Marshall of Ridgefield, CT and Christa Bachman of Annandale. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Eileen O'Byrne of Yardley, PA and her children; and 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Marybeth, Benjamin and Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home Ltd, 103 Old Highway, Whitehouse, NJ 08888. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Church in Califon. Due to his love and commitment to his wife, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzeheimers Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave. Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834. Because he was inspired by the students and staff where his daughter is employed, donations may also be made to Lakeview School, 10 Oak Drive, Roosevelt Park, Edison, NJ 08837.
