Obituary of Ernest J Sharkey
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Andrew J and Anna (Lada) Sharkey. Ernest grew up in Harrison and lived in Newark until 1969 when he moved to Whitehouse Station.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the troop transport U.S.S. Scott and served during WWII in the South Pacific, China, and India. He was employed by Driver Harris Co. in Harrison, NJ and then became a Newark firefighter for Engine 19 until his retirement in 1988.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Pat Sharkey and several nieces and nephews.
