Obituary of Michael J. Colangelo

Michael J. Colangelo, age 57 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at home with his family by his side.

Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, he was the son of Ronald Sr. and the late Sophie Colangelo.  Mike lived in High Bridge and Lebanon Twp. before moving to Whitehouse Station.
 
He graduated from Bridgewater East High School in 1978 and graduated from Bentley University in Waltham, MA in 1982.  He received his CPA certification in 1988.  Mike was a Senior Accountant/CFO at Maersk Sealand in Florham Park, NJ.  He had been with the company since July of 1988 and his last position held was President of Maersk Inc.
 
Mike had a passion for playing softball. He started playing at the age of 18 with his older brother Ron, playing for the Findern A’s.  He played with many teams over the years, his most recent team being Phoenix Tube at the Senior softball level.

Besides his father, Ronald of Hillsborough, Mike is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Joanne (Lannigan) Colangelo and his loving children, Michael Colangelo, Jr. of Glen Gardner, NJ, Renee Colangelo of Somerville, NJ and his stepsons, Patrick Vitale of Savannah, GA and Kevin Vitale of Whitehouse Station, NJ.  He is also survived by his dear brothers, Ronnie and Mark Colangelo and sister, Sue Muller.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station, NJ.
