William Patrick Clark was family. He didn’t meet his brother until he was a young man. It was the late 1950s when my father, John Coulter, and Bill found each other while serving in the US Marine Corps. For more than 60 years they moved back and forth through each other’s lives. As their families grew so did their friendship. They both entered this life brother-less but they filled this missing piece when they found each other. One example of Bill’s influence on my father was when my parents chose Patrick as my middle name shortly after my father and Bill met. And then later, my youngest brother’s middle name was chosen — William. While they shared very different views on the world, I know they loved each other. Like all families there were good times and hard patches but their friendship endured. If my father was still with us I know he would have worked tirelessly to compose an eloquent way to say goodbye and salute his good friend and brother. While he isn’t here to do that, I hope the two are now reunited and sitting around a bountiful table continuing one of their long animated dinner conversations picking up right where they left off the last time they were together.
William Patrick Clark shaped the lives of many. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, soldier and brother. We all have many different memories of time with him. Cherish the good ones. My hope is that the entire Clark family can remember the good ones as they cope with their loss. On behalf of Bill’s brother and the entire Coulter family, Godspeed and semper fidelis,
Brian Patrick Coulter.

Mrs. Clark and family,
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your amazing husband and father, Bill Clark. I met Bill more than 15 years ago when he was kind enough to invite me to the annual Devildog Luncheon in New York City to celebrate the birthday of our beloved Marine Corps. I thoroughly enjoyed his many sea stories, his warmth, charm and gentlemanly manners in making all of the guests feel so welcome. He embodied the image and bearing of an officer and a gentleman, and I fondly recalled the many jokes, commentary and guidance he offered me as a fellow Marine Corps officer. We talked at length many times about his experiences at Yale and a place that I had the privilege of visiting as a Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer in the mid 1908's looking for Yale students who wanted to become officers of Marines. He was an ambassador for teaching young men and women the value of serving this great nation of ours, and he certainly impressed me with his passion for sustaining the bonds of brotherhood that only Marines truly understand. I shall keep Bill as well as you and your family in my thoughts and prayers and truly believe that Bill is likely telling one of his many compelling sea stories with those who have gone before us. May God bless you and those you love.
Respectfully yours,
Peter Chapla

My father, Joseph Mezzacappa (1940-1999), served on the North Hunterdon School Board with Bill, and always spoke highly of him. So did my mother , Joann (1942-2018). The original Tewksbury families are a much smaller bunch now, than they were in the 1960s and 1970s. To Janet and all children, my condolences to you. My parents will be happy to welcome Bill Clark into God's hands.

Dear Janet & Members of the Clark Clan:
A new friend of mine in Detroit, Jason Johns, passed along the news of Bill's death. As the senior surviving member of the Holsapple tribe, I would like to express our sorrow at this news. Needless to say my parents enjoyed years of friendship with Bill and Janet. His personality was contagious and his enthusiasm for life extraordinary. I think the pictures in this obituary truly capture the essence of who he was.
I was the only Holsapple who appreciated his love for the U.S. Marine Corps. When I was about to enter the Corps and attend Officers Candidate School (OCS), he and Fred Whaley made sure I was physically and mentally prepared. They threw a party for me at Apple Lake and gave me a toy pop gun and helmet. I still have those gifts as a remembrance today. Bill told me about the secret of climbing a rope and the need to run long distances in preparation for training, lessons that saved my life in OCS. Based on that advice, I still run today.
We are grateful for having been touched by his life and spirit. He truly made his mark on this earth. As a fellow United States Marine Corps officer, I thank him for his service to our country and to the spirit of the Corps.
Our warmest regards to all of you.
Earle T. Holsapple III
I recall the impact he made on the community and the number of people who enjoyed being around him. He never lacked an opinion so engaging with him was a delight. When I first met Jason a few months ago, I was shocked that he knew your clan. He reported that Bill was still riding horses.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd like to share some real hope with you. In Psalms 146:4 tells the condition of the dead. "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to the earth and that very day his thoughts perish." In Acts 24:15 the bible promises a resurrection of our loved ones back to earth. When Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead, he brought him back to earth. That was a foregleam of the future. In Psalms 37:11+29 says man will live forever on the earth in peace. That was God's original purpose, for man to live forever in the garden of eden. God's purpose hasn't changed. In Isaiah 45:18 says God created the earth to be inhabited. That's why he gave his son to die for us, John 3:16, so we could have everlasting life on earth. In Revelation 21:4 says there'll be no more pain or death. Since there's no pain or death in heaven, those are future conditions here on earth.

He will be missed.
My heartfelt condolences to the family.
Unfortunately I just moved south so cannot be present as his service but you are in my heart.
God bless.

The United States Marine Corps and the polo world will miss Bill….
Because Bill had something special... french would call it jene se qua......it was...
Something good, clean and strong… representing what is RIGHT about America, our Corps and especially family.
like to share a reflection from my past it's appropriate today
When I was just 10 years old ......experienced the first death in my family... my grandfather died and it was a devastating we were very close ... still remember at the funeral parlor how cold my grandfather's hands were…
That night after the cemetery, my grandmother took me to a window in her small apt in Chicago and said:
Patrick look up at the stars all those stars in the sky are really holes in the sky were people that we have lost are up there looking out for us and watching over us.
One of those stars one of the larger ones is your grandfather and he's looking out for you and me.
Patrick remember that and Patrick …never... disappoint him ...never
Janet and William III………….. Bill Clark is up there in the New Jeresy sky and one of the brightest stars and he is looking out for you and all of us
Now to all ofBill great family ........ remember
let Us
never
NEVER let him down
Fair winds Bill ....
