Obituary of Lois R Furstenburg

Lois R. Furstenburg, 86, of Lebanon, New Jersey passed away on October 30, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Born on September 21, 1927 in Somerville, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Gladys (Fenwick) Packer. Lois was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County. Lois graduated from Flemington High School in 1945. She went on to marry and have three wonderful children. Lois was a bus driver for Readington Township Schools for 23 years. She was also the owner of Haver's Lawnmower Hospital, a family-run business in Whitehouse Station. Lois was a member of Rockaway Reformed Church in Whitehouse Station. Besides enjoying spending time with her family and friends, Lois loved to bowl, to complete crossword puzzles, to crochet and to do needlepoint and ceramics. Lois was a loyal New York Mets fan. Lois lived for her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a unique ability to make each one feel special in her own way. Far beyond an amazing woman, Lois can be described as fiercely independent, strong, humorous, thoughtful, and selfless-a true role model and a one-of-a-kind person. Lois touched many lives and will be missed and remembered in spirit. Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her loving daughter, Judy Pilecki, her sisters, Dorothy Schapley and Thelma Davis, and her brother, Ronald Packer. Lois is survived by her two sons: Bruce and his wife, Carol, of Scotch Plains and Roger and his wife, Nancy, of Whitehouse Station. Lois is also survived by nine grandchildren, Heather, Kari, Justin, Kristofer, Jillian, Laura, Allison, Matthew and Michael, as well as four great-grandchildren, Ross, Aidan, Sydney and Cole. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 1st from 5 - 8pm at Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, Lois and her family have requested memorial contributions be made to: Uniting Against Lung Cancer: 27 Union Square West, Suite 304, New York, NY 10003 ( www.unitingagainstlungcancer.org), in memory of her late daughter, Judy Pilecki.
