Obituary of Lynne S Friend

Loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Lynne Sommer Friend, 73, of Annandale, NJ passed away Sunday, August 25 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. 

Born in Elizabeth, NJ on September 20, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Sommer.

Lynne was a resident of Basking Ridge and then Summit before moving to Annandale 43 years ago. Lynne and her husband were high school sweethearts for 59 years from Ridge High School, Basking Ridge NJ, Class of ‘63. They organized and hosted many class reunions over the last 56 years. She graduated from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, Class of ‘65.

She was and Executive Secretary for Pan American Airlines in New York City, Foster Wheeler in Clinton and  Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in Princeton.

She was a member of  Hunterdon County 4-H Puppy Club and enjoyed raising two Seeing Eye puppies. She enjoyed the sun on her face, adult coloring, quilting, calligraphy, black & white cookies, the occasional margarita with friends and family, cooking, gardening, rug hooking and her cat Lovey.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Larry “M.O.A.T.”; her daughter, Leigh and boyfriend “B.R.” of Jersey City; her son, Lawrence Jr. and daughter in-law Emerald of Maine; her brother, David Sommer and his wife, Richelle of Annandale and her four grandchildren, Vincent, Zachary, L.T. and Griffin Friend as well as their mother, Vanessa Friend.

A celebration of Lynne's life will be announced at a later date.
