Obituary of Philip S. Houser III
Philip S. Houser III passed away on October 25, 2019, with his family at his side in Boca Raton Florida, after a brief illness. Born on December 31, 1939 and raised in Mechanicsburg, PA., he was a New Jersey resident for fifty years and resided in Red Bank for close to thirty years.
Phil was a graduate of Bloomsburg University in PA, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. He was also a multi-sport athlete for the Huskies on the Basketball and Baseball Teams. He went on to receive two Master’s Degrees from Seton Hall University in Administration and Supervision, as well as in Guidance, and then completed Doctorate Courses in Education from Rutgers University in NJ. Phil became a life-long and successful career public educator.
His love of life, adventure and world travel brought Phil to all seven continents. He was an avid reader, writer, and passionate conservationist. He volunteered more than 1,500+ hours at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton in support of marine awareness and education, as well as sea turtle rehabilitation and ocean release.
Phil is survived by his son, Philip S. Houser and family from Morristown, NJ; wife Dee, son Ryan who is a graduate student at Rutgers University in NJ, studying toward Pre-Med, and daughter, Sarah who is a Cadet at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
His daughter, Tracy Lynne Hendershot and family from Martinsville, NJ; husband Bill, son Will who is pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture, and twins; Jake who plays Varsity Baseball, and Emily who runs Varsity Track at Bridgewater-Raritan HS.
His brother Barry, wife Ann and family from Camp Hill, PA, and brother Scott, wife Debbie and family from Hatfield, PA, and sister-in-law Joan Morgan who resides in Seattle, WA.
Phil resided in Boca Raton for the last seven years with his long-time companion Edythe Carter.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday November 5, from 3:00p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service to be held during the visitation at 4:00 p.m. at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
