Obituary of Marilyn M Colburn

Marilyn M Colburn died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Hunterdon Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 71. Born in Newark, NJ, she lived in Summit before moving to Whitehouse Station in 1968. She was the daughter of the late Victor and Marie (Brackmann) Kress. She was a teacher, employed by The Midland School in Branchburg, NJ retiring in 2005. She taught kindergarten at the Kean College Demonstration School in Union and at the Wilson School in West Caldwell. Marilyn was the NJ State Smallbore Rifle Champion in 1965. Her love for gardening, biking, sewing, and crafts was unending. She was predeceased by her son Eric in 1980. Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Robert of Whitehouse Station and her son, Jon. Marilyn is also survived by her brother John Kress of Chiefland, FL and many friends and relatives. A funeral service will be held Sat. Sept. 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Kearns Funeral Home 103 Old Highway 28 Whitehouse, NJ 08888. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Fri. Sept. 7, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
