Fred - Where do I begin? You were a great friend and a confidante. The number and length of conversations we had ever since reconnecting on Facebook a decade ago, people would not believe. With topics that included your business, my finance career, politics, women, pets, the way the Whitehouse/Flemington area has changed through the years, people and places we knew, Rockaway Creek, investments (please send me a sign about what to do with Middlesex Water.. haha), our families, our friends from both recent times and the long-ago past (please say hello to Craig Gooding for me), that photo you took and posted of myself and other kids who were "stuck in Mrs. Durling's Spanish class", our respective health issues (my MS and your conditions that you shared with me), the joy and heartbreak of being Mets fans (I'm lighting a candle here for you, and making it blue for that reason), etc. While we both were opinionated, and could get mildly annoyed with each other at times, we never once had a single argument in all the years we knew each other and all the times we talked.
As I sit here and I think about just how many interests we had in common, it's no wonder that we spent so much time in conversations.. Nobody liked to reminisce about days gone by as much as you did. You once paid me the greatest compliment I've ever received, when you literally posted a comment on social media that I was the best thing to come out of Whitehouse. That was, obviously, a crazy, over-the-top statement (as I told you), but what it also was, was an indication of the respect you had for me, which I appreciated immensely. Our friendship goes back to when your family moved to Whitehouse and we became friends, participating in Boy Scouts (Troop 198), playing and competing in East Hunterdon Little League, etc. Please know, Fred, that the respect you had for me, I felt for you ten-times over!!
Fred, I am writing this mainly for myself. I'm sure I'll come back to it at some time in the future.. perhaps when my memory is failing.. to remind myself of the friend in you that I had and lost. Your passing was the most shocking, sudden loss I have ever experienced. You had briefly confided in me what was going on a few times, but then, suddenly you were gone without me knowing just how bad it had gotten. My one regret is that you weren't able to tell me the end was near, and I wasn't able to see you before you made your way to Paradise. But now that you're home, it comforts me to know that you have all of eternity to enjoy your loved ones who departed this world before you, as well as the ones who follow you there.
Until we meet again...

I will always remember Al as one of the nicest people I have known. Always had a positive attitude, I always enjoyed a conversation with him. He was all about friends and family. Great person and we were all lucky to have known him.
Rest in Peace my friend.
