Obituary of Marian Yankowski

Marian E. Yankowski, age 72 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died in hospice care on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Peppis House in Tucson, AZ.

 

Born in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Iris (Whybrow) Stetler.

 

Marian had been a resident of Readington Township since 1953.

 

She was a caseworker for DYFS for 33 years, working in the Somerville and Trenton area.  She was a strong advocate for the children and families she served and was instrumental in changing policy procedures and drafting legislation.  Although she retired in 2001 her dedication to service did not end.  She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, was a Hospice Volunteer and worked tirelessly collecting things for the needy.  Marian always put others before herself.  She enjoyed peaceful activities like knitting and gardening.

 

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 1997.

 

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Barnett and her husband, Michael of AZ.

 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 12:30 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.

 

Friends may visit prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:30 PM.

 

Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater.

 

If possible, donations of food and supplies rather than flowers would be greatly appreciated in memory of Mr. Wiggles, to benefit St. Huberts Giralda Animal Shelter, 3201 - US 22W, Branchburg, NJ 08876.  Alternatively, donations to the Lupus Foundation of America at 500 York Road, Jenkintown, PA. 19046 or at www.lupus.org would also be appreciated.
