Obituary of Franz J Marsalek
Franz J. Marsalek, age 91 of Lebanon, NJ, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 23, 2020.
Born in Vienna, Austria he emigrated to Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1958. He waited there for five years before he was able to emigrate to the United States. He lived in Scotch Plains for a short time before moving to Lebanon over 50 years ago. For a number of years, he and his wife, Maria were snowbirds and spent many enjoyable winters in Venice, FL.
Franz was a machinist and the owner of Exacta Machine Tool Corporation in Lebanon.
He was a master with his hands and before leaving Austria had built and flown his own glider plane. He enjoyed metalworking, caring for his honeybees and spending time with his friends. In his younger years, Franz and his wife were fortunate to do a great deal of traveling, visiting such places as Japan, Hawaii, the Canary Islands and Mallorca Africa to name a few.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael in 2014.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria, his daughter, Sylvia Pohorely and her husband, Gregg and his two cherished grandchildren, Heather and Tyler Pohorely.
Due to state mandated gathering restrictions, a private graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Rural Hill Cemetery.
