Obituary of Joyce O Smith

Joyce Smith, age 88, passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 11, 2020.

She was born in Washington, NJ on May 29, 1931 to the late Florence (Christensen) and Robert Walker. On March 25, 1950 she married the love of her life, Raymond E. Smith with whom she recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.  In addition to her husband she is survived by daughters, Gail Powers, Donna Dickinson (John); grandchildren, Dawn Marie Powers, Kristine Jarmer (Luke), Kelly and Sean Dickinson along with numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, stepfather, sisters, Ruth Friedrich, Blanche Hall, brother, Robert Walker and great granddaughter, Leah Jarmer.

Joyce was a 68 year member of the Whitehouse United Methodist Church where she graced the chior with her vibrant alto voice.  She was a homemaker first and foremost, sewing Easter dresses for her daughters, spending special times with extended family.  She enjoyed lunches with her church women's group friends.  She will be lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Due to gathering restrictions a private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Newell Cemetery in Stanton.
