On behalf of the New York State Catholic Conference, I extend our deepest condolences upon learning of the death of Evelyn. We have fond memories of working with Evelyn when she served as Respect Life Director for the Diocese of Brooklyn and as a member of our Public Policy Committee. She was feisty and determined, smart and sassy, and deeply committed in her pro-life values. I always admired the way she infused her pro-life beliefs into her involvement with the Democratic Party, always seeking to plant seeds and persuade others. She was courageous and unapologetic. I remember painting her portrait and throwing a little party for her when she left her position with the diocese. She was a mentor to me, affirming my work and building my confidence over the years. I am indebted to her. May God and all the angels carry her to a peaceful and beautiful life in eternity, resting in the loving arms of Jesus Christ.
