Obituary of Evelyn A Kmosko
Evangelia Kmosko of Warren Township, NJ died Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset, NJ.
She was born in Greece in 1939 to the late Athanasios and Ekaterini Zahos and emigrated with her parents and brothers George and James to the United States in 1955 at age 16. Evelyn quickly learned English for her first job as a chocolate maker for Helen Elliot's in North Plainfield. Later, she worked for Pathmark where she eventually became a champion for Women's Rights as a member of their management team.
Evelyn married William A. Kmosko of South Plainfield, an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. They had celebrated 47 years together when he passed away in 2007.
She was happiest when helping others, especially when she was the Chairwoman for the St George Greek Orthodox Church’s Greek Festival fundraiser and as a Sunday School teacher for twenty years.
Evelyn was always there to lend an ear, trying her best to help and inspire everyone around her.
Surviving Evelyn are her brother George, her son Christo, daughter-in-law Christiane, and grandchildren Alexander, Nicholas and Philip, who will miss her very much.
A grave-side service will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 11am at Holy Cross Cemetery, 147 Mount Airy Rd, Basking Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made through IN MEMORY OF at www.inmemof.org/evangelia-kmosko for the benefit of the Warren Township PBA; as their many men and women have consistently gone above and beyond to help her and the community.
