Amalia Altonji

Obituary of Amalia Altonji

Amalia Altonji, age 92, died Thursday, November 12, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Quakertown, PA.

Amalia had two older brothers Frank and Vito, now deceased. She was raised by her parents Frank and Luisa Brancato in Bayside NY. She grew up on Long Island where she met and married her husband John. There they raised their family of six children, spent 5 years in PA, then settled in NJ for much of their remaining lives together.

Their children have benefitted from both their strong spiritual faith and love of life. She has instilled her children and grandchildren with many wonderful memories and the unshakable knowledge that she is thrilled and full of peace now that she has gone home to God. He is opening her eyes to a wonderment beyond our comprehension.

Amalia worked as an assistant to a NY stock broker and as a bank teller in her early years. Once married she was a secretary, a real estate agent, and a successful entrepreneur starting her own word processing business which ran for many years. She served on the Martinsville Rescue Squad and played classical piano and the guitar. She was devoted in her faith and active in the church in various capacities over the years.

While Amalia will be missed tremendously by her family and friends, she leaves memories behind filled with laughter and warmth.

The wake will be private for immediate family. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater NJ. She will be buried in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Amalia can be made to Phoebe Richland, where they will support older adults in need. Family members will be notified that a gift has been made in memory of their loved one.
