Obituary of Elsa Matzer

 

Elsa Matzer, age 95 of Bridgewater, NJ, died Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerville, NJ.

Born in Gubbio, Italy she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Maria (Rossi) Cardoni. 

Elsa arrived in Wilkes Barre, PA in 1955, and married her husband, Albert in 1956. In 1962 they moved to North Plainfield where they raised their family for the next 30 years.  In 1992 Elsa relocated to Bridgewater where she resided happily for the past 29 years.

Elsa was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater.

She was a talented seamstress and had a passion for sewing.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was fortunate to be able to travel to Italy every other year to visit with relatives and friends.

Elsa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert in 2011 and her dear sister, Virginia Orsini and dear brother, Gualterio Cardoni.

She is survived by her son, Marc of Bridgewater, her daughter, Marie Skelton and her husband, Brian of Pittstown and her four grandsons, Joseph, Bryan, Michael and Nicholas. 

A funeral liturgy will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bridgewater.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.

Entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made through In Memory Of at www.inmemof.org/elsa-matzer for the benefit of the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
