Bruce and I were roommates at college my senior year. We had a lot of fun that year. Our room was always full of other brothers from campus who would drop by to listen to music and just hang out. We both liked jazz. I had a jazz show on the campus radio station and I was always sure that I had at least one listener on campus...Bruce. He was a real prankster...usually at my expense!!!
His passing came as a real shock to me and my wife when we read it today. He will always be remembered by us as someone who was full of life...and a quiet, level-headed person...when he wanted to be...
I am happy we had a chance to be roommates...and I am saddened by his loss. My wife V Chapman-Smith and I would like to express our sincere condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Bruce. I worked with Bruce at J&J, very closely for a number of years. Bruce was an amazing partner and I learned so much from him. He was teaching me all about process improvement and I was coaching him on change management. Out of that was born a way of working that many people used. I am so grateful for Bruce and for what I learned from him. He was one of the really good people that I had the privilege of working with in my 25 years at J&J. My prayers are with you and I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Warmest regards, Kim Kleasen

Terribly sad news. Working with Bruce was always such a pleasure, a GREAT professional with a heart of GOLD. Great insights and very pragmatic approaches.
I wish he had much more time to enjoy his well-deserved retirement with his family.
Sure we will miss him a lot.

I'm still in shock with this news from yesterday...
My parents (Paul Sinckler and Carline Sinckler) chose great God Parents (Marcia Braham Sawyer and Bruce Sawyer ) for me and I literally had THE BEST God Father in the world. It feels so strange to write "had" since I just saw you before we left to return back to Poland. I will always remember, when I fishing again, not to make noise when fish catch my hook. So that the rest of the people fishing won't steal my spot. Also I'll remember to not fish when there are big waves, so I won't be hurling 99% of the time. Thank you for always supporting me and anything I pursued. Of course I'm sad that you won't get to turn up with us in Poland, but I will save an extra shot glass for you. I will miss you so much. RIP Padrino Bruce

We were fortunate enough to meet Bruce and Marcia when our son, Bob, introduced us to his "friend" Catherine. As their relationship grew, so did our friendship with the Sawyers. No matter what the setting, Bruce always welcomed our family with open arms and made everyone feel at home. He always led the festivities with his larger than life personality, which usually included great food, great wine, and many, many laughs. These times will never be forgotten and will be embedded in our memories forever. Our very sincere condolences go out to Marcia, Catherine, Bob, and Chris. May these wonderful memories help you get through these very difficult times. Love- Ron, Becky, and Louise

I met Bruce at work, at JnJ in Brazil. At the time I was going to deliver a presentation to the leaders and I only knew that Bruce was the head of the BE department. He came in quiet, with an intimidating act, that froze me for the entire meeting. He´s only pointed out 1 observation, of which I stepped up to comment. And this moment was a breakthrough to me. It felt extremely good about being able to correspond to him. A few years later the team gathered in Orlando and during this standing brunch at a nice place is where I realized Bruce was nothing but a fun, very fun guy! He was wearing this funny Hawaian shirt, colorfull, with lots of flowers (similar to the one at the picture) smiling to all, very approachable and joking around. While I had a first impression of his smartness, at this time I could see how fun and enjoyable he was.
AND - It was close to the time his daughter was going to get married. So the folks were teasing him around the Sawyer/ Rowe... and I was laughing at his ability of shifting from an intimidating face to a lovely one.
Wishing the family, colleagues and friends, peace!

My thoughts and prayers go out to Bruce's family. He was always so full of life and proud to share his family stories with love and humor. I worked with Bruce in Ortho Biotech in Puerto Rico and Raritan in the construction and start up of the OKT*3 facility. Also as he took us on the Continuous Improvement journey. His strong work ethic was great. I will remember how he took his cactus from his wife to each office as it was to remind him that he can thrive in all environments. Bless you all.

I wish the world could have more Bruces....this would be such a better place!!

To Bruce's family:
I worked with Bruce for many years at J&J, and cannot remember an interaction with him that was not creative, funny, or helpful. I retired a couple of years before him, but we reconnected through social media, where I was thrilled to be able to enjoy his dry sense of humor and friendship once more. I am so very sad and cannot imagine the loss you must feel. Please know he had many friends all over the world, and that he will be remembered fondly. He will be missed.
May you be embraced by our loving God

Dear family and friends of Bruce,
I am so sorry for your loss and I cannot wrap my head around it that this happened and so sudden, so I cannot even imagine what you must go through now... I want to express my deepest and heartfelt condolences for your tragic loss. Bruce and I were dear colleagues at J&J and I have known him for many many years, as a loyal person, no nonsense approach, very funny and always in for a laugh, known for his famous Hawaiian shirts and authentic facial expressions. He was a great inventive leader with outspoken truths and people respected him for the person he was, just because you could always rely on him for telling the truth no matter what. That was also one of the reasons throughout the years that we got along so well. He will be missed that is for sure and I never thought I would not get the chance to see him face to face again besides interactions on social media. I hope you can find comfort in the memories you have and that he is looking from above and watching over you.
My dearest regards,
Tin Noeyens (from Belgium)

Dear Marcia, Catherine & Chris,
I am so very sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. He was a colleague of mine at J&J for 30+ years and our boys attended school together in Readington. When I first met Bruce so many years ago, I must admit I was a bit intimidated by him - he seemed so serious and unapproachable. Of course, once I got to actually know him, my opinion of him completely changed and I realized very quickly that he was the total opposite! He was so friendly, caring, funny, and full of life and he always went out of his way to say hello, even if it was just a quick nod of his head while chatting with others as we passed in the hallways. He loved talking about his family and life in general and always had a word of wisdom to share. He was a wonderful man and will surely be missed by his J&J family.
May the beautiful memories you shared together help you through these difficult times.
With deepest sympathy,
Gina Morris
