Obituary of Mary D Allen

Mary D. Allen, RN, age 90 of West Orange, NJ, died Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater.

Born in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Contino (Geraci).

Mary had been a resident of West Orange for over 50 years. She was a registered nurse, working for many years for St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston and later retired from Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange. She additionally earned a master’s degree from Upsala College. 

She loved to swim, travel and shop and was an avid reader. Her grandchildren brought her much delight.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald in 2005 and by her son, William R. and two daughters, Nancy T. Allen and Rosemary Stark, and grandson, Zachary Allen.

She is survived by her four sons, Christopher and his wife, Victoria of Whitehouse Station, Michael and his wife, Laurie of Oxnard, CA, Donald and his wife, Barbara of St.Paul, MN, and Vince and his wife, Merilyn of Scottsdale, AZ.  She is also survived her sister, Rosalie Caruso of Long Beach, NY, and by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

 A funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s honor may be made payable to HCRHS/Zach Allen Scholarship Fund.

Inturment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kearns Funeral Home, Whitehouse.
