Obituary of Michael O Renda

Michael Oscar Renda, age 70 of Readington Township, died Monday, June 28, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ, he was the son of the late Oscar and Katherine (DeLuca) Renda.

Michael grew up in Green Brook, NJ. He graduated from Rutgers Preparatory School and was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he earned two degrees; a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering ‘72 and a J.D., summa cum laude ’76. He moved to Readington in 1978.

He was admitted to the New Jersey bar in 1976 and practiced as a business and construction attorney. He was a founding partner of the law firm, Waldman, Renda & McKinney in Hawthorne, NJ, where he practiced for the past 42 years. He was also a mediator for the New Jersey Courts and a mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

Michael was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station, the Utility & Transportation Contractors Association of NJ, the Hunterdon Italian American Club, the NJ State Bar Association and the Metedeconk River Yacht Club in Brick, NJ.

He loved fishing and boating, vegetable gardening, cooking, making fresh mozzarella, both making and drinking fine wine and most of all, he loved every minute he was able to spend with his beloved family. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and passionately supported his alma mater.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara, his daughter, Antonina K. Renda of Morristown, his son, Michael J. and his wife Dr. Alexa Gale of Arlington, VA, his daughter, Michelle A. Renda and her husband, Jonathan Block of NY, NY, his three sisters, Antonina Manfreda and her husband, John, of Readington, Katherine Flaherty and her husband, Michael, of E. Falmouth, MA, Gina Renda of Kansas, and his brother, Salvatore Renda and his wife, Nancy Adams, of Maplewood. He is also survived by his two cherished grandsons, Michael R.G. Renda and Malcolm R. G. Renda, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, and his two grandpuppies Captain and Jack.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 1 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888. 

Entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater immediately following the funeral mass.
