Obituary of Dessie L Featherstone
Dessie L. Featherstone, known affectionately to her family and friends as Laverne, age 77, died peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at her home in Whitehouse Station, NJ.
Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lenora Smiley.
Laverne lived in Hillside, NJ, before moving to Whitehouse Station 17 years ago.
She worked for IBM for over 20 years prior to retirement. She enjoyed music, movies and taking long walks on the nature trails surrounding her home.
In addition to her parents, Laverne was predeceased by her brother Lamar. She is survived by her son, Brian (Cathy) Featherstone, her brother Horace (Exzetta) Smiley, her sister Lillian Bragg; her granddaughters Ivy-Rose and Lily, and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse.
