Obituary of Judith A. Peppe

Judith A. Peppe   May 11, 1940 – August 31, 2021

With deepest sorrow, we share the loss of Judith A. Peppe, age 81, our most beloved mother, wife, sister and grandmother of Lebanon, NJ, who passed on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

For those of us that knew her, we will miss her smile, laugh, humor and wit. Born in Old Forge, PA, Judy resided in NJ all of her adult life.

Vacation with her family, holidays and family parties was where Judy smiled most. She would add to the fun and sparkle of any room. She loved music, dancing and good food. As an amazing cook herself she would always make more than enough for anyone that would stop by. Generous is an understatement when it came to her giving soul. She was a selfless person that would shop for everyone but herself. You could find her donating her sale finds to charity, or to anyone in need of a warm coat, gloves or a hat. She was known for rescuing an occasional abandoned baby racoon or rabbit and buying day-old bread for the deer. She also had no fear of the occasional mouse or bat that we were all screaming to escape from. With her perfect Catholic schoolgirl handwriting, she sent countless touching cards and letters to cheer up a friend or celebrate an occasion.

Judy loved to watch her shows on TV and catch up on all the celebrity news in her magazines.  She loved to listen to the beautiful piano music her grandson Brett was playing in the next room. Especially when his private concerts would include some Dolly Parton or Cher tunes.

She thought her most precious gift was her family and she showed them unconditional love, supporting all their endeavors. (Except maybe the one too many pets her kids and grandkids would bring home or wondering why someone would get a piercing or tattoo like that on purpose).

She spoke fondly of her childhood memories including shopping for her first pair of shoes by herself when she was just 5 years old, only to come home with Doc Marten style boots that she was so proud of. She was ahead of the fashion times even back then! She leaves behind many quotable life lessons that her family will never forget.

Judy will be missed everyday by all who loved and knew her. She is survived by her husband of  60 years, George Peppe, her sister Joanne Gumpert and her husband Alan of Cape Coral, FL, her children, Mary Brecht and her husband Bruce of Whitehouse Station, Sandra Peppe-Lambert and her husband Stephen of Annandale, George Peppe and his wife Demetra of Lebanon, as well as her 10 grandchildren who she was so proud of including Andrew Gamble, Kelly Johnson and her husband Justin, Brett Peppe and his wife Courtney, Brittney and Alexis Orashen, Nicolette and George Peppe, Ryann and Hayden Lambert and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

We know that Judy is most definitely sitting at the family dinner table in heaven with her beloved daughter Karyn Orashen and her grandson Kyle Gamble likely rating the meatballs and gravy, which could never hold a candle to hers.

Our light, our joy and the heart of our family. We will forever hold her dear in our hearts.
