Obituary of Robert G. Wachendorf

 Robert G. Wachendorf, age 71 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Violet E. (Laugel) Wachendorf. He graduated from Mount St. John Academy, Gladstone, NJ, Immaculata High School, Somerville, NJ and attended St. Francis College, Allentown, Pa. Robert lived most of his life in Readington Twp., and served on several Township and County land use committees. 

 

Bob or Uncle Bob (as many of his friends knew him) was a farmer and outdoorsman.  He loved his family’s farm on Holland Brook Road and worked tirelessly to improve its soils, woods and wildlife. He developed agricultural expertise, and successfully raised seed crops, hay, and cattle as well as some produce.  Recently, he started Holland Brook Preserve, a commercial bird hunting endeavor to maintain the sport of bird hunting in Readington. 

 

Robert G. is survived by his wife, Nancy Barnes; his brother, Thomas, his sister, Joan Murphy (Daniel), his son, Robert Todd Wachendorf (Kristine), and his grandchildren, Aubriana, Alexa, Genevieve, Briella, Robert, Madeline, and Odin.  

 

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ.  A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00.  Burial following the service will be private.
