Obituary of Matilda M Burnett

Matilda M. Burnett, known to her family and friends as Tillie or Girlie, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater, NJ at the notable age of 102.

 

Born at home in Hillside, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Margaret Kugelmann.

 

A resident of Hillside most of her life, Tillie moved to Whitehouse Station in 1995.

 

She was a Chemist for Bristol-Myers in Hillside, NJ and later worked as a school cafeteria aide for Hurden-Looker School in Hillside, NJ.

 

She was a regular attendee of the Whitehouse United Methodist Church.

 

Tillie was a gifted crafter and was an excellent embroiderer and sewer.  She loved spending time in the outdoors, enjoying the flowers and animals in her yard.  She was devoted to her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.

 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald in 1983 and by her six siblings, Olga Schwarz, Carolinia Zimmerman, Jennie Hermann, Frederick Kugelmann, Carl Kugelmann and Richard Kugelmann.

 

She is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Quinlan and her husband, Robert B.; her two grandchildren, Robert D. Quinlan and Kimberly Byrne and her husband, Daniel as well as three great grandchildren, Matthew, Carter, and Charlotte Quinlan.  

 

Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 2:30 to 5:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.  A service will be held at 4:30 PM.

 

Burial will be on Saturday, October 2 at 11:00 AM in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
