Obituary of Gale I Pluhar

Gale Irene Pluhar, age 80 of Whitehouse, NJ, died Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Somerset in Somerville, NJ.

Born in Somerville, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late George and Julia (Wujceak) Romanok. Gale grew up in Bound Brook, got her BA in Fashion Illustration from FIT in NYC, worked as an illustrator in Massachusetts and lived in Somerville before moving to Whitehouse in 1974.

She was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of their Rosary Altar Society.  She was a member of the ARC of Hunterdon County and active in the Hunterdon County Garden Club.  A gifted gardener who grew the most wonderful flowers, she was extremely talented at making floral arrangements and served as a judge for flower shows across the Garden State.  Gale was a kind and sincere friend to all.  Her love as a wife and mother was characterized by deep devotion and sacrifice, tenderness and tireless self-gift.  

Gale is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Thomas J Pluhar, a retired dentist from Bound Brook, her daughter, Cynthia Ann Pluhar, who works at the Center for Educational Advancement in Flemington, and her son, Thomas A Pluhar, who is a seminarian at Seton Hall University.  She is also survived by her brothers, David Romanok of Somerset, Allen Romanok of East Brunswick, John Romanok of Hillsborough, and a sister, Audrey Kapuscinski of Beachwood.

Friends may call Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Whitehouse Station.

Entombment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington.
