Obituary of Carol Z Stephenson

Carol Z. Stephenson, age 84 of Whitehouse Station, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ.

Born and raised in Hanover, PA, she was the oldest sister of six children to Irving and Grace Zacharias. A proud graduate of Cornell University and Rutgers University, her passion for education led her to working as a school nurse and social worker for the Tewksbury Township School System for over 20 years, while serving as a board member to the National Alliance for Mental Illness in Somerset County. Carol was a voracious reader, an active member of book club meetings, always keeping up to date with literature and the daily New York Times. A patron of the arts, she loved classical music and played both piano and harp. A dedicated and loving grandmother, mother, sister, and daughter, she will always be remembered for her strength, courage, and undeniable gift of storytelling.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne, her son, Mark, and her sister, Judy. She is survived by her son, Glenn, and his wife, Karolyn; her two brothers, Bill and Jim Zacharias, and her two sisters, Suzie and Luca, as well as her three cherished granddaughters, Katelyn, Kylie, and Brooke. 

A private service will be held next week for the immediate family. For extended family and friends, a celebration of life will be held at a later date this spring.
